What are PRP facials?
PRP facials or platelet-rich plasma facials are the latest procedure that has taken the cosmetic industry by storm. The facial is known to bring a considerable difference to your complexion and helps restore facial volume. One major reason why these facials are becoming popular is that platelets out of your own blood are used for the facial instead of harsh chemicals and synthetic products hence mitigating the risk of allergies or side effects.
How are platelet rich plasma facials performed?
As mentioned above, platelets from your own blood are used in these procedures. Blood is drawn from your arm after which the platelets are removed from it. These platelets are then injected back into your face or the area that needs treatment. The amount of blood drawn depends on the area that you want treated, however, the quantity is generally not more than 30 ml.
Who should opt for this treatment?
Nonsurgical PRP facials are generally safe and do not have any side effects, which is why anyone who is interested in flaunting clear, healthy and rejuvenated skin can opt for this treatment option. It should, however, be noted that PRP facials may not be a good option for pregnant and breastfeeding women. You may also want to consult our professionals at Prestige Cosmetic Clinic and Aesthetic Organic Spa if you were ever diagnosed with cancer or if you suffer from autoimmune diseases. Our professionals will be able to guide you better about the treatment and whether or not it is suitable for you.
When can I expect results?
While some people may need up to three treatments for the results that they desire, most people immediately notice increased elasticity in their skin. It has also been seen that the results of a set of three PRP facial treatments can last up to two years. It should, however, be noted that some factors like stress or smoking could affect your results and might even delay them.
